2 Chronicles 7:13-15 (ESV) 13 When I shut up the heavens so that there is no rain, or command the locust to devour the land, or send pestilence among my people, 14 if my people who are called by my name humble themselves, and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and heal their land. 15 Now my eyes will be open and my ears attentive to the prayer that is made in this place.
While this was a promise to Solomon regarding Israel, it tells us much about the heart of our God.
He is the same, yesterday, today and forever. His heart toward His people will always be the same. He longs to bless us (individually and as a Nation) with the things that nourish our souls and move us toward fulfilling our God-given purposes.
James 1:17 (NIV) 17 Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
We must each choose to own our lives, in part by being disciplined and faithful prayer warriors and yet also by obeying the Word of God. Imagine what our relationships would be like…what our homes would look like and then what the state of our Nation would be if we not only prayed but acted on the following verses:
1 Thessalonians 5:14-18 (ESV) 14 And we urge you, brothers, admonish the idle, encourage the fainthearted, help the weak, be patient with them all. 15 See that no one repays anyone evil for evil, but always seek to do good to one another and to everyone. 16 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.
Let’s start now!
