Like this little guy who hit our window quite unexpectedly, is this a hard day for you? Maybe you are overwhelmed or just plain hurt and disappointed. Maybe it has been weeks of excruciating pain and sorrow…even months or years…
Proverbs 3:5-6 translates like this when I read it. I guess you could say it is loosely translated. Still… I do know this to be true from my own life experiences: Trust in the Lord with everything in you. Don’t be thrown by your own narrow interpretation of what is happening or even by your own solutions. You don’t see the whole picture. So…in everything you do, remember and acknowledge His love, wisdom and generational plans for you and yours. Though the pain seems unbearable, the circumstance unthinkable…cling to Him…to His love. Do this… and He promises to direct you through to a place of peace, more understanding…and even joy again.
Right now it may be impossible to understand why but you can choose to trust His hand of love…lean into it…lean into the verses that do speak truth to you. If none of them speak truth to you right now…you can pray. You can express your questions to Him…you can ask Him to heal your heart and bring you peace…to help you not to be so angry that you become embittered.
To handle life with continual questioning and anger and then the resulting emptiness is to give this present heartache even more power to destroy…to give the enemy of your soul a double victory.
To handle it by leaning into Him…waiting on Him…praising Him for the blessings that you choose to recognize is to bring you peace and yes, in time, even joy again. Your peace and joy will spill over into the lives of those around you who so desperately need it, which always…always brings glory to His name.
Psalm 40:1-5 (NIV) 1
I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry. 2 He lifted me out of the slimy pit, out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. 3 He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD. 4 Blessed is the man who makes the LORD his trust, who does not look to the proud, to those who turn aside to false gods. 5 Many, O LORD my God, are the wonders you have done. The things you planned for us no one can recount to you; were I to speak and tell of them, they would be too many to declare.
Psalm 20:7-8 (NIV) 7 Some trust in chariots and some in horses, but we trust in the name of the LORD our God. 8 They are brought to their knees and fall, but we rise up and stand firm.
